1. General Compliance
The above-named Esoteric Technologies Pty. Ltd. and Astrolabe, Inc. astrological software products allow dates to be entered and charts correctly calculated for dates in the 20th century (1900s), 21st century (2000s), as well as for all prior and subsequent centuries, including BCE dates. However, for Professional Natal Report for Windows and the Astrolabe Report System, the entered year date range is 1723 CE to 2049 CE. (There are additional ephemerides available to increase this date range from 1250 BCE to 2350 CE.)
The calculation of leap years is also performed correctly in all cases, including the year 2000 itself (which is a leap year).
2. Date Entry Issues
There are some small differences among these software products as to which century is assumed when a year is entered as a 2-digit number. After date entry, the user is always immediately shown the resulting fully-formatted date, including a full year number which makes it possible to easily identify and correct any wrongly entered year numbers. Important note: for Astrolabe's Professional Natal Report for Windows and the Astrolabe Report System, all years must be entered using 4 digits.
Solar Fire v2(Standard Edition)/v3; Solar Maps v1; Solar Spark v1; JigSaw v1/v2
For these programs all 2-digit year numbers are assumed to be in the 1900s. Years in other centuries must always be entered with all digits.
Solar Writer v1
All 2-digit year numbers are assumed to be in the range 1910 to 2009. Years outside this range must always be entered with all digits.
Solar Fire v4
By default, all 2-digit year numbers are assumed to be in the range 1910 to 2009. This range can be changed by the user by adding an entry to the SOLFIRE4.INI file of the form ADefCentury=1950". This would change the 2- digit date range to 1950 to 2049. (However, note that the utility programs included with Solar Fire v4 always assume 2-digit years to be in the 1900s, ie. the Ephemeris Generator program and the Fixed Star Editor program).
DOS Products Covered: Chartwheels II, Timegraphs II, CCRS 92 Horoscope Program, Nova, AstroAnalyst and Report Writers
1. General Compliance
The above named DOS astrological software products allow dates to be entered and charts and graphs correctly calculated for the date range 1250 BCE to 2350 CE with the Expanded Ephemeris. Without the Expanded Ephemeris, the date range is 1723 to 2049 CE. The exception to this is the CCRS 92 Horoscope Program which has a much more expanded ephemeris date range, both BCE and CE.
2. Date Entry Issues
The above-named DOS programs require 4-digit year entry. The exception is the CCRS 92 Horoscope Program which allows 2-digit year entry for years in the 20th century (1900s). After date entry, the user is always immediately shown the resulting fully-formatted date, including a full year number which makes it possible to easily identify and correct any wrongly entered year numbers.
3. Other DOS Programs
Aztec Astro-Report and Personal Numerology Report
Year numbers must be entered using all 4 digits. Their ephemeris range is unlimited.
Astro-Scope Report, Sex-O-Scope Report, Contact Astro-Report, Composite Astro-Report, Progressed Astro-Report, Daily Astro-Report, Monthly Astro-Report
Year numbers must be entered using all 4 digits. The ephemeris range for all is 1800-2000 CE, and as of May 1, 1999, these DOS programs will no longer be sold and supported. Some of these DOS programs will be replaced by add-on modules for the Astrolabe Report System for Windows which will allow extended ephemeris range calculations. Note that Professional Natal Report for Windows has replaced Astro-Scope Report.
